About the Show

Straight Talk is a weekly half hour talk show broadcast on cable systems in Long Beach and 40 surrounding cities reaching 650,000 cable viewers. In its nineteenth year on air, Straight Talk is the most watched and respected cable talk show in the greater Long Beach area.

The show provides a platform for in depth discussions with government and business leaders, elected officials, university presidents, faculty experts, leaders in the arts, entertainers, doctors and health care administrators, and representatives of non- profit organizations and community groups. Guests and topics are chosen to embrace current newsworthy issues, to showcase individuals of accomplishment and who have significant insights on current topics, and to focus on the importance of ethics and values. Over 400 shows have been taped during the past nineteen years and  more than 1000 guests have been interviewed.

About the Host

Straight Talk is hosted by Art Levine, an established television personality who has been on air for more than twenty-five years. An underlying theme of the show is the importance of values and ethics. Viewers are encouraged to get involved in addressing the challenges facing the community and the show stresses that each of us can make a difference.

Art is also a professor of ethics and legal studies at the College of Business Administration, California State University, Long Beach. He is a graduate of Yale Law School and is a member of the State Bar of California and State Bar of New York. He completed the Workshop for Ethics Educators of the Josephson Institute for the Advancement of Ethics. He is one of the founding faculty members of the CSULB Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership.

Art has made numerous professional presentations on the subjects of corporate abuse and teaching ethics. He has written columns for newspapers and business journals on the importance of ethics and the need for ethical reform in corporate America, in politics and in society as a whole. He has been interviewed by the print and electronic media throughout the country on the subject of ethics and the need for corporate reform. He was a judge in the Ethics Bowl at the 2005 and 2006 Annual Meetings of the Association of Practical and Applied Ethics and regularly presents papers at the annual conference of Pacific Southwest Association of Legal Studies in Business.

Art is a graduate of Leadership Long Beach, Class of 2003. He was a recipient of the 2002 CSULB Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award. He served for eight years as a director of the Long Beach Public Transit Company. In 2009 Art was elected to the Board of Directors of the Long Beach Police Foundation and now serves as its Vice President.

In 2006 Art co-founded the CSULB Distinguished Speaker Series and has served as its Director for the past four years.  Each year, the Series brings a distinguished speaker to campus for the benefit both of the university community and the community at large. The most recent speaker in October 2010 was Arianna Huffington, co-founder of The Huffington Post, who spoke on the impact of the new media on the political world.
